Orange Walk man shot dead in Maskall Road

By Aaron Humes: Police have confirmed that one man is dead following a shooting on the Old Northern Highway (Maskall Road) earlier tonight.

25-year-old Lisandro Martinez, originally from Guinea Grass, Orange Walk District, police information says, asked a friend to take him on motorcycle to the supermarket in Sandhill at Mile 19 to buy groceries.

On their return, they were approached by a vehicle from which a man in.the front passenger side stuck out his hand with a firearm and opened fire, fatally injuring Martinez. The driver of the motorcycle sped off trying to flee the attackers and took the injured Martinez to his home in Boston village.

The motorcycle driver and others then took Martinez to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City however he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police investigation continues.
