Public Service Ministry denies Minister Henry Usher’s father-in-law has been appointed to head Public Service Commission

Posted: Wednesday, July 20, 2022. 1:03 pm CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of the Public Service, Constitutional Reform, and Religious Affairs has denied that Minister Henry Charles Usher’s father-in-law Anthony Chanona has been appointed to head the Public Services Commission.

“Our attention has been drawn to the Guardian’s Newspaper and Hot Off The Press social media article titled “Minister’s Father In Law to Head Public Service’s Commission”. Consequently, there has been an avalanche of comments regarding this false statement,” said the Public Service Ministry in a press release.

“It has become necessary to set the record straight. It is not true that Mr. Anthony Chanona has been appointed as the Chairman of the Public Services Commission and we find it very disappointing that no one reached out to the Ministry to verify the accuracy of the information.”

The Ministry of the Public Service asked the media and the public to note their clarification and requested they “take steps to stop the misinformation.”
