By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Six officers from the Belize Defence Force (BDF) were hosted by the Louisiana National Guard (LANG) for aviation cross-training in Hammond and Belle Chasse.
The training was held from July 11 to 15, 2022.
The LANG and BDF are partners in the Department of Defense National Guard Bureau State Partnership Program.
The purpose of the program is to foster mutual interests, establish long-term relationships across all levels of society, and encourage the development of economic, political, and military ties between states and partner nations.
“Louisiana and Belize have been partners since 1996, and when you get down to it, Belize brings a lot of real-life experience that we benefit from,” said Chief Warrant Officer 2 Allen West, LANG program director.
The training also advanced BDF requirements for airworthiness ratings and support to U.S. forces.
The BDF officers also toured the facilities in Belle Chasse and Hammond to communicate with aircraft maintainers about best practices in quality control and maintenance.
