By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, more than 50 representatives of the cruise ship industry converged at the Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel for a National Cruise Tourism Policy Planning Workshop.
The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) noted that the objective of the workshop is to assess the current cruise sector trends, competitive advantages and development constraints, and opportunities to determine a path forward for the next 10 years.
The policy development workshop is also an opportunity for local stakeholders to provide their input in this update process, and to discuss major priorities for cruise tourism in Belize.
Director of Tourism for BTB, Evan Tillett underscored the importance of the workshop and updated participants on the work of the Cruise Tourism Task Force, which continues to work toward formulating the cruise tourism policy.
