By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: A Mexican network of activists is reportedly smuggling abortion drugs to American women, CNN reports.
Just as new abortion restrictions began in the U.S., 3 Mexican women crossed into the U.S. at different entry points with dozens of abortion-inducing pills hidden in their belongings.
According to the report, the FDA-approved 2 drug combination medication had traveled across Mexico and was being handled by an underground network of some 30 organizations in the country.
The organizers say that since the U.S. court repealed Roe v. Wade, the network has moved an average of 100 doses across the border daily.
A Mexican abortion activist noted that the medications are reaching women in more creative ways.
However, following the June ruling, abortion and abortion medication has been banned in Texas and at least 26 states have enacted abortion restrictions.
The illegal operation has now emerged as an avenue for women seeking abortions in Texas and Mexican abortion activists say that they are providing American women with an option.
