Belizean captured in Melchor, Guatemala, handed over to Belize Police

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Forty-year-old Belizean Kenyon Jovani Lewis, wanted by Belize police since May 2021, was detained in border town Melchor de Mencos by Guatemalan police and handed over to Belize Police.

A Guatemalan National Civil Police (PNC) reportA Guatemalan National Civil Police (PNC) report on Friday said Lewis was wanted in Belize for drug possession, homicide, vehicle theft, and armed robbery.

Melchor Police said Lewis was captured in the Suchitán area of Melchor de Mencos.

They said their records show Belize police had an order for his apprehension since May 3, 2021, for the previously mentioned crimes.

The Melchor police handed him over to the Guatemalan Institute of Immigration (IGM) at the border and was then handed over to Belizean authorities.
