By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize City Animal Aid reported and posted a video of a man dragging a dog while driving a motorcycle in the Ladyville area.

Today we discussed the third and one of the most important animal rights: the right to freedom from pain, disease, and injury.

“Earlier today we received a very disturbing video which depicts a person driving a motorcycle while dragging a dog from its collar,” posted Belize City Animal Aid.

“The only form of protection granted to this poor dog from the harshness of the road seems to be a tiny piece of fabric. This was observed in the Ladyville area, very close to the road that leads to the international Airport. We were informed that the animal was alive when the video was taken.”

Belize City Animal Aid said it is outraged at the blatant display of cruelty.

“We stand for those without a voice!! The lack of respect towards life, towards the wellbeing of an animal that no matter what should have never endured such pain.”

Belize City Animal Aid said it is looking to identify the ‘heartless’ man.

“If you have any information on the identity of the heartless being seen driving the motorcycle, please contact authorities. If you have any information that could help us locate this poor animal, please feel free to reach out to us.”

According to Belize City Animal Aid, it is the duty of responsible pet owners to ensure that “our pets are comfortable in the living conditions we have provided them with”.
