Police hold two men for Friday night’s fatal shooting of Daniel Orellano in Belmopan

By Aaron Humes: Police have detained two persons and are seeking a third following a fatal shooting incident on Friday night in Las Flores, Belmopan.

According to police, 21-year-old Daniel Orellano of Belmopan was found face up with injuries to the face and neck near a house on Mariposa Street just before 7 p.m.

One of the persons detained was alleged to have been “playing” with his licensed 16-gauge shotgun inside the house along with two other men, when the gun discharged. The single shot went through a window of the house, damaging it, then hit Orellano who was outside the premises.

Investigations by police continue.
