By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize, featuring three new teams, will play three pre-season games this weekend ahead of next weekend’s kickoff.
According to PLB General Manager Wilhelm Miguel, national champions Verdes will take on Benque Viejo United at 7:30 pm on Saturday at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen.
On Saturday as well, Altitude host Wagiya at 7:30 pm at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence. And on Sunday, the Belmopan Bandits will face off with Belize City’s Port Layola (not Loyola) at 6:00 pm on Sunday at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan.
The only two clubs that will not see action this weekend are Progresso and the San Pedro Pirates and new club Progresso because Progresso are playing in the NBB National Amateur Interdistrict Competition (NBB-NAIC) semifinals on Sunday.
The three new clubs are Progresso FC from Progresso Orange Walk, Port Layola FC, and Benque Viejo United playing under the Police United club license.
