By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize United won 3-2 in a penalty kick shootout over Reality Youths to claim the crown in the 2022 Belize Tourism Board (BTB) Anthony Mahler U-13 Mundialito.
The Final finished after overtime 0-0.
Barack Morey, Jacob Joseph, and Herwin Godoy hit the target Belize United. Their top goal scorer Antwan Latchman missed while Regular Season MVP Shane Vernon stopped Belize United’s 4th try by Jayven Norales.
Tyler Gentle and Dennis Nuñez converted for Reality Youths. Belize United’s goalkeeper Jayden Fortune stopped a penalty kick. Reality Youths’ 3rd and 4th kickers missed.
TutBay Yabra FC took third place defeating the Ladyville Rising Stars 1-0. Kristan Linarez, the top goal scorer of the tournament, scored the winning goal in the 3rd period of the game.
Reality Youths’ Shane Vernon was voted Regular Season MVP while the Playoffs MVP was Belize United’s Herwin Godoy.
Amina Burgess (female) of Ladyville Rising Stars won the Fair Play award.
Best Defender went to Jahryn Clarke of Ladyville.
Best Midfielder was taken Jacob Joseph of Belize United.
The Best Forward was Kadeem Oliva of Reality Youths and the Top Goalscorer was claimed by Christon Linarez of Tutbay Yabra.
Reality Youths’ Richard Nunez was voted Best Coach.
