Leader of the Opposition Shyne recognized at ‘I Rise’ Award Ceremony by faith-based organization in New York and by several New York government elected officials

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: “Extremely humbled to have been the Hall of Fame Honoree and Keynote Speaker at the 7th annual faith based organization “I Rise” Award Ceremony in Brooklyn NY,” said Leader of the Opposition (LOO) Shyne Barrow of the recognition he received in Brooklyn, New York on July 23.

Barrow said he was happy to have his mother Imeon Frances Franklin with him as he spoke of “living to serve humanity”.

At the ceremony he said he had been asked about what’s the most difficult part of political life.

“I said don’t get involved unless it is your purpose, unless it is your passion,” Barrow said.

“This is about humanity, and we all face the same problems. Inflation is a problem in Belize, it’s a problem here. Equality is a problem in Belize, it’s a problem here. Gender equality is a problem in Belize, it’s a problem here. Right? There is a global crisis, and we need all of you to continue to take action. It can’t end here.”

Barrow said the work to serve humanity must continue.

“It’s not about this moment of recognition. It’s about doing the work in the darkness, in the trenches. So, I encourage all of you to continue to do the good work that you are doing, and we will remain bonded in purpose and passion for humanity. So, I thank you for recognizing what it is that I’m doing, what I was born to do which is impacting people’s lives. God bless all of you. I thank my mom. Special acknowledgement to all my political colleagues for the work that you do as well,” said Leader of the Opposition Barrow.

During this most recent visit to the United States, Barrow also received honors from Congresswoman Yvette Clark, New York State Senator Roxanne Persaud, New York State Assemblywoman Rodneyse Hermelyn, New York State Assemblywoman Letrice Walker, New York State Assemblywoman Kimberly Pierre, New York City Council Member Rita Joseph, and from The Public Advocate for the City of New York Jumaane Williams.
