Goran and Gabrielle Gabourel make the podium at the Chicago Intelligentsia Cup

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Brother and sister Goran and Gabrielle finished third and made the podium in the Winfield Criterium on Sunday in the Intelligentsia Cup in Chicago in the United States.

The Intelligentsia Cup is a 10-day criterium racing series in the Chicago area.

Goran riding for the C-Ray Cycling Club was third on Sunday in a field of 14 riders in the Men’s Junior 15-18 Category.

Prior to that, Goran placed fourth on Friday, July 22 in the West Dundee River Challenge in a field of 11 riders.

On Monday, July 25, he was sixth in the Tighthead Mundelein Grand Prix Men Cat in a field of 12.

Then on Tuesday, July 26, Goran finished fourth in the Junior and 28th in the Men’s Cat 3 Elite in the Lombard Cycling Classic.

For her part, Gabrielle finished 3rd at Winfield on Sunday in a field of ten riders.

Earlier on Friday, July 22 she placed 5th in her first race at The West Dundee River Challenge in a field of nine. On Saturday, July 23, she was seventh out of nine in the Ray WhalenTour of Lake Ellyn.

On Monday, Gabrielle again finished seventh out of nine in the Tighthead Mundelein Grand Prix.

On Tuesday, she was sixth in the Lombard Cycling Classic.

The other Belizeans competing are Wasani Castro and Kaya Cattouse.

Castro, riding under the Westrac Alliance banner, is competing in the Men Category 2 Elite. He has finished 29th, 31st, 26th, and 11th so far.

Kaya, who is now riding with LA Sweat in the Women’s Pro/1/2 Elite Category, has finished 61st, on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, she did not finish, and on Monday she was 62nd.
