John McAfee, Antivirus Software Pioneer, Gets Netflix Documentary

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Netflix has greenlighted a documentary on software pioneer turned fugitive, John McAfee and his life after he became a suspect in the 2012 murder of his neighbor in Belize, The Verge reports.

As McAfee fled Belize, a film crew documented his experience evading authorities and even the Mexican cartel.

The documentary “Running with the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee” will be available on Netflix on August 24th and depicts McAfee’s life with guns, drugs, and alcohol as the group makes their way through Belize and Guatemala and end up on a boat to the Bahamas.

After making a name for himself and creating the McAfee antivirus software, McAfee’s life began to spiral out of control after he was dubbed a suspect in the murder of his neighbor.

He got into crypto, developed a “hack-proof” phone, and in 2020, he was arrested in Spain for tax evasion and was later found dead in his prison cell before he was extradited to the US. His death was ruled a suicide.
