By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Team Belize is participating in the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games on Thursday evening in Birmingham, England.
The Opening Ceremony starts at 8:00 pm (1:00 pm Belize).
The team arrived in England on Wednesday and on Thursday morning some of them met with Ambassador Therese Rath of the Belize High Commission to the United Kingdom.
The Belize contingent consists of 13 athletes plus officials.
They are: Cycling: Alicia Thompson, Giovanni Lovell, Oscar Quiroz, Byron Pope, Justin Williams, Cory Williams, and Kaya Cattouse (arrives August 2) with Cycling Federation of Belize president Orson Butler.
Athletics: Shaun Gill, Ashontie Carr, and Ashantie Carr, Hilary Gladden, and Brandon Jones accompanied by Belize Athletics Association vice president Jaheed Smith.
Triathlon: Kian Trejo and triathlon official Giovanni Alamilla Jr.
Head of Mission Giovanni Alamilla Sr. has been in Birmingham since July 19.
The Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (BOCGA) Secretary General Allan Sharp is also at Birminghan 2022.
