COVID update: Active cases below 500

By Aaron Humes: Despite more than 500 new cases added in the last week and up to Friday, the number of active cases of COVID-19 continues to trend down, reaching 453 as of Friday.

254 new cases were added between Wednesday and Friday, with only one person left in hospital and no new deaths reported.

A total of 122 new cases were reported in the Belize District including 86 in Belize City and seven in San Pedro Town.

In the Cayo District, 43 new cases were reported, including 14 in San Ignacio/Santa Elena and nine in Belmopan.

The Corozal and Orange Walk Districts saw 51 new cases between them including 16 in Orange Walk Town and nine in Corozal Town.

The south added 38 new cases including nine in Dangriga and six in Punta Gorda.

Overall, 67,111 total cases of COVID-19 have been reported since the start of the pandemic in March of 2020.
