By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Authorities in Mexico are investigating how an 11-year-old girl suffered second degree burns to 13% of her body, Latin Postreports.
The National Human Rights Commission has launched an investigation since reports say the burns were allegedly triggered when the facility’s staff tasered the girl after being doused with alcohol.
The incident occurred at the House of Life, Way to Health facility in Tonalá, Guadalajara in Jalisco last week Friday.
The girl’s mom said that the employees were trying to subdue her during an anxiety attack and they doused her with alcohol and tasered her.
The girl is hospitalized and has received the plastic surgery needed for her injury.
The girl’s mother told local newspapers that the staff said it was an accident but she didn’t believe them. The girl suffers from anxiety disorder and depression and has suicidal tendencies.
