Government of Belize condemns Hopkins mass shooting

By Benjamin Flowers: The Government of Belize (GOB) has issued a statement of condemnation in the wake of the mass shooting in Hopkins Village early this morning.

“The senseless violence that occurred last night at a nightclub in Hopkins Village was tragic and unconscionable. The Government of Belize grieves with the families of those whose lives were lost as a result of this indiscriminate shooting that left two persons dead and eight injured, including three police officers,” GOB said.

GOB said that it condemns the incident “in the strongest terms” and has pledged to leave no stone unturned with respect to bringing those responsible to justice.

GOB also said that Belize must address violent crime through stricter firearm laws.
