Narcos leave behind burned plane in Crique Sarco

By Aaron Humes: A suspected drug plane landed on an illegal airstrip south of Crique Sarco village sometime on Saturday night, but its occupants and cargo disappeared under cover of darkness, leaving only the remnants of the plane for police to find.

Police and Belize Defence Force personnel conducted a joint operation in the area today starting around 11:30 a.m. and concluding late this evening.

The double-engine airplane was found on an illegally built airstrip running for a mile, on an off-road six miles south of the main village. No one was in the area.

Increasingly traffickers who fly cargo to Belize intended to be moved through Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico to the United States have been sacrificing the planes after several intact planes have previously been recovered.
