Club Atlético get even, beat San Pedro Conquerors 3-1, advance to NBB – Amateur Interdistrict Competition Final

Bemopan’s Club Atlético exacted vengeance on the San Pedro Conquerors beating them on Sunday at Ambergris Stadium to advance to the NBB – Amateur Interdistrict Competition Final on a 5-4 aggregate score.

Last week, the Conquerors had shocked Atlético 3-2 in Belmopan, but on Sunday, the team from the nation’s capital injected some of their own medicine on the islanders putting them out of commission.

Club Atlético jumped ahead in the 44’ just to have the Conquerors tie the ball game in injury time before the halftime whistle on a goal by Rayjan Jones.

The tournament’s top scorer Wilfredo Galvez put Atlético ahead 2-1 in the 64’ tying the aggregate at 4-4.

As the game neared the end of regulation, Korey Gomez found the net in the 88’ erasing any possibility of overtime and giving Atlético the ticket to the final.

Club Atlético will now square off with the Griga Conquerors, who took out Progresso FC, in the one-game final on Saturday, August 6, at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.

This was the second come-from-behind win for Atlético in three days. On Friday night, they crowned themselves champions of Belmopan for the fifth consecutive time on a 2-0 win over Valley United after falling behind 1-0 in the first leg.
