By Aaron Humes: The search continues for Brian Andrews and Sherwin and Kenyon Moore, accused of committing the mass shooting inside Wabinaha Bar and Night Club in Hopkins, Stann Creek District, on Sunday morning.
Commissioner of Police Chester Williams has shed some light on a possible motive for the men, all from Sittee River, to attack the party – and it allegedly has to do with a fight over a woman that one of the gunmen was interested in but who was partying with someone else.
We understand that there was a prior confrontation between one of the deceased, Noah Moro, and the accused, after which they briefly left and returned opening fire, hitting Moro first and others, indiscriminately, after.
The Commissioner said the men fled in a white Chevrolet Silverado used as a getaway vehicle, which has now been impounded and its owner, a Canadian national, detained for questioning.
Moro and construction worker Emilio Garcia were killed and eight others, including five females and three police officers, injured. The search for the accused trio is being led by the Special Patrol Unit (SPU); the Commissioner himself was on the ground in Hopkins on Sunday.
