International News: Mexican authorities deport 126 Venezuelan migrants

Posted: Monday, August 1, 2022. 12:43 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Saturday, the National Migration Institute (INM) in Mexico said that the country deported 126 Venezuelan migrants who did not have proper documentation to be in the country.

According to Reuters, among those were 117 men and 9 women who couldn’t prove their legal entry to Mexico.

The migrants were taken from Tapachula, near the Mexico-Guatemala border, to an airport where they boarded a flight early Saturday morning.

The institute noted that this year, it has deported 343 Venezuelan migrants.

Due to the economic situation in Venezuela, an estimated 6 million Venezuelans have fled their home country to other countries in the region.
