Alleged Hopkins mass shooters were caught being driven by their attorney; Exercised their right to remain silent

By Benjamin Flowers: When police apprehended the men believed to be responsible for the outrageous mass shooting in Hopkins Village on Sunday morning, the men were in a vehicle with their attorney.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams confirmed today that two Special Patrol Unit (SPU) teams were out looking for the suspects on Monday, August 1, when they were found on the Southern Highway in the vicinity of Silk Grass Village.

Williams says that the men were all in the same vehicle, being driven at the time by an attorney, who told police he was on his way to deliver the men to Dangriga police.

“We do believe his story because he had called about 40 minutes earlier indicating that he was going to surrender the young men to the police,” Williams said. “So we do not believe that the attorney was in any way trying to hide these accused men.”

Williams said that the men were taken into custody and interviewed, in accordance with the Commissioner’s guidelines, however, based on advice from their attorney, the men did not cooperate with police and remained silent during the interview.

They stand accused of opening fire on a crowded nightclub, killing two people, and injuring eight others, including three police officers and a 15-year-old female minor.
