By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize put up a fierce fight against El Salvador winning the third and fourth sets after falling behind 2-0, but in the end lost the last set recording their fourth straight loss in U-23 Women’s Central American Volleyball Championship.
El Salvador won the match 3-2 (25-17, 25-15, 23-25, 22-25, 15-13) at the Jorge Galeano Gymnasium in Tegucigalpa.
Team Belize have now fallen to a 1-4 record and sixth place while the Salvadorans move up to fifth and may scale up to fourth depending on the Honduras-Nicaragua game tonight.
Now, Team Belize only have Wednesday’s game against Nicaragua left in the tournament.
Momentarily, five-time champions Costa Rica, who today beat Guatemala 3-1 (25-214, 20-25, 25-21, 25-19), are in the top spot. Honduras who are playing in the last game tonight against Nicaragua are in second with a 4-0 record. Guatemala (3-3) are in third place, Nicaragua (2-2) are fourth, El Salvador (2-3) follow in fifth, Belize (1-4) are now sixth, ahead of Panama (0-5) in seventh.
