By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Minister of Public Service, Constitutional and Political Reform and Religious Affairs, Henry Charles Usher has extended get well wishes to Bishop Lawrence Nicasio, Bishop of Belize City and Belmopan.

On Tuesday, August 3, through a statement by the Roman Catholic Chancery Office, Bishop Nicasio informed of his medical condition.

“I was admitted at Mercy Hospital in St Louis, one of the Catholic Hospitals in the area. A CT scan was performed and the results showed a blockage of the colon. Within a few days, and following medical advice, I underwent surgery to remove the blockage. The surgery was carried out on the 21st of July and it was successful. The blockage was removed, however, it was found to be cancerous. As a consequence, further treatment is necessary which is scheduled to begin soon,” Bishop Nicasio said.

“I have always felt abundantly blessed to have such good and faithful people in the diocese. Your prayers and encouragement have constantly strengthened me and I know I can count on your prayers and support as I continue to receive treatment,” the Bishop added.

Charles-Usher and his ministry extended prayers and well wishes for the complete healing of Bishop Nicasio and asks the nation to join in lifting the Bishop and all those affected by cancer in prayer.
