Twelve-year-old girl raped in Belize City

By Benjamin Flowers: A twelve-year-old girl from Belize City, reported to police that she was raped yesterday.

The girl, in the presence of her guardian, told police that she was in the St. Martin’s area around 3:00 p.m. on August 3, when a male dragged her into an abandoned house and forcibly had sex with her.

Doctors followed up on the report by conducting a medical examination in the presence of the child’s guardian and a social worker.

Police have launched an investigation.
