Condolences pour in for Orlando ‘Big-H’ Harrison – From Minister Michel Chebat to UDP’s Elvin Penner to former and current employees

Posted: Friday, August 5, 2022. 7:53 am CST.

By Hugh O’Brien: Since the sudden death of Orlando Harrison on Thursday night, condolences have been pouring in from friends of the family as well as former and current employees.

Current area representative Michel ‘Micho’ Chebat posted “…deepest condolences to the family of Orlando “Landy” Harrison. A loyal general and local pioneer Landy was loved by many in the community and in Belize. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends in this time of bereavement. Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory.”

“Orlando Harrison was a great friend to me, and so were his four children and his wife. A wonderful family that I loved to spend time with. I was always welcome at their house and no matter where we would meet, we always had lots of catching up to do. We both had a great passion for canoe racing and spent a big portion of our life supporting the sport that we loved. My condolences to the family. You will be missed. RIP Big H” said former UDP area representative, Elvin Penner.

Charles B. Leslie Jr. penned “You and primo (Richard) gonna meet up and have a blast.”  The spanish word ‘primo’ means cousin but in this context is referring to Richard Harrison, the younger brother of Orlando Harrison, who died in a traffic accident with a lumber truck on February 6th 2020.

Reminiscing on his businesses, a close friend posted “For us to walk the path of life, and to have known such a wonderful person I mourn your passing dear friend. You were like a big bros to me, I will cherish our memories from our days with el cenote – la ruta – Vida the racehorse – mamita milk -meluchies. You always working on business ideas and still found time to hang out wherever I met you. Goodbye my friend R.I.P until we meet again.”

And to top it off Elvert Ariola, current manager of Buena Vista Communications Center Limited (a new business venture headed by Orlando Harrison), said “Words cannot even begin to express my sorrow. Please accept my deepest condolences for your family’s loss. Gone from our sights but never from our hearts.”

Ariola concluded “I lost a father figure and a great friend”.

Breaking Belize News (BBN) also extends its dearest condolences to the family and friends of Orlando Rene Harrison, and at this time of mourning, wishes the family comfort that he is in a better place.
