Forecasters say a tropical depression could form this week

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center (NHC) are closely monitoring a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the Eastern tropical Atlantic.

The system just south of the Cabo Verde islands is associated with a tropical wave.

According to the NHC, environmental conditions appear generally conducive to the gradual development of this system while it moves west across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.

This could form a tropical depression around the middle to the latter part of this week.

The public is reminded to be alert and prepared.
