By Rubén Morales Iglesias: 70 soap makers graduated last Friday from a soap-making program organized by the Belmopan City Council under Mayor Sheran Palacio.
The Belmopan City Council said the “first-of-its-kind course began in July 2022 and ended in a memorable graduation ceremony on August 5, 2022.”
The ceremony was held at the University of Belize Jaguar Auditorium
“Seventy Soapers qualified and graduated. Thanks to Queen Jadore [Fatima Bint Zahra] who travelled all the way from Ghana to impart the training and enlighten the participants. This endeavor was funded by The African Cities Consult, Ltd. to whom we are grateful,” said the Belmopan City Council.
The Belmopan City Council congratulated all the graduates for ‘arriving at this significant milestone’.
“This initiative has generated capacity and skills that these Soapers will be able to become good practitioners and outstanding entrepreneurs,” said the Mayor.
The Belmopan City Council said it continues embarking on capacity building and a culture of enterprise development for its residents.
The Council also thanked and celebrated “the hardworking staff of the Belmopan City Council who were a part of this success story”.
