By Benjamin Flowers: Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) says that it continues to monitor the ongoing rains and warned that they may cause power issues for customers in some areas.
BEL said that its team is monitoring the unstable weather conditions noting that they may either cause power surges or in some cases outages.
“Intermittent power outages may be experienced during this time, as our devices work to protect and stabilize excessive high or low voltage. We remind our customers to unplug any equipment or device that is not in use during that time and use surge protectors where possible,” BEL said.
The power company also urged customers who experience power outages to report it by calling the toll-free number 0-800-235-2273, but warned that severe weather conditions may delay its teams’ response to some areas. Customers are assured that teams will be in affected areas resolving issues once it is safe for them to do so.
