By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The United States has donated over 52,000 COVID-19 pediatric Pfizer vaccines to Guyana, Loop reports.
The donation comes through the World Health Organization’s (WHO) COVAX Facility.
The U.S. has since donated 354,660 vaccines to Guyana.
The vaccines can be used on children ages 5 to 11 years old.
Deputy Chargé d’Affaires at the United States Embassy in Georgetown Adrienne Galanek noted that the US “remains steadfast in our commitment to expand access to COVID-19 vaccines and help save lives.”
Guyana began its pediatric COVID-19 campaign in June and over 6,000 children have received 1 dose of the vaccine, the Ministry of Health said.
However, the ministry warned that COVID-19 is not over and the public can be reinfected with BA.5.
