Troy Banner remanded to Belize Central Prison on child abuse allegations

By Benjamin Flowers: Accused child abuser, 31-year-old Camalote Village resident Troy Banner has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison on his third allegation of brutally assaulting a child.

Banner was formally arrested and charged on Monday with one count of grievous harm, one count of cruelty to a child, and one count of wounding in connection to the hospitalization of a 15-day-old child.

The child was reportedly admitted to the Western Regional hospital on Saturday with a broken arm, mouth abrasions, and bruises to the back; injuries Banner claims that the baby sustained by falling off a bed.

On Tuesday he was arraigned in the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court, and bail was denied in the first instance. He was remanded until September 13.

Banner is accused of brutally assaulting two other children, one of whom died as a result; however, he has not been convicted of any such offense.
