By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Prime Minister of Belize, John Briceno met the newest group of 21 recipients of the “I am Belize” scholarship program.
PM Briceno says that recipients of this educational assistance program are young people that come from low-resourced families and marginalized communities affected by gun and gang violence.
There are 60 students currently in the program and 440 have benefited over the years since its start in 2010.
“I thank our government officials who work at Restore Belize and recognize the support of all our international donor agencies, private sector, and public sector partners who continue to support the I Am Belize Scholarship Programme and Restore Belize,” PM Briceno noted.
The ‘I AM BELIZE’ Scholarship Program by Restore Belize seeks to break cycles of generational poverty through the provision of opportunities for academic advancement.
