By Aaron Humes: The COVID-19 pandemic has largely been knocked off the front pages and newscasts, but the repeatedly mutative virus continues to infect people countrywide.
Over the weekend 59 new cases were reported by the Ministry of Health and Wellness, with 213 active cases countrywide as of today, Monday.
Nearly 11 and a half percent of the population, or more than 67 thousand, have been infected since the start of the pandemic (this includes those infected more than once).
The new cases include 17 in Belize City, seven in Belmopan and three in San Ignacio. The Belize District has the most cases with 21, followed by Cayo with 16.
Belizeans are reminded to continue following the guidelines for protection against COVID-19 where possible and avoid infection of others once themselves infected.
