By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Nurses Association of Belize thanked the Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum, and Mining for the first 50 land titles handed over for its members.
“The Nurses Association of Belize would like to extend a warm thank you to the Deputy Prime Minister of Belize Honorable Cordel Hyde and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining on behalf of all nurses of Belize, who, as frontline workers continue the at-risk challenge in confronting covid 19 and other public health crisis,” said a press release issued on Monday by the Nurses Association of Belize.
The release said Minister Hyde established a program that has the aim of providing all nurses with “purchase titles for a lot size land throughout the country”.
The Nurses Association said submissions for land titles were done in 2021 and the Ministry has delivered 50 purchase titles during the first phase of the program.
“The Minister and his ministry continue to work hand in hand with the Nurses Association of Belize to continue with the allocation of a piece of land to more nurses throughout the country before the end of the year,” said the Nurses Association release.
The association said it’s clear this initiative won’t do away with the ongoing workforce challenges but represents “a modest but meaningful way to support and retain healthcare workers within the public system and Belize.”
The Nurses Association statement closed saying that the land initiative is a way to recognize and support the efforts of nurses and to ensure that they are there when most needed.
