Verdes win again, Altitude still lead Premier League of Belize

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes won the new Benque derby 1-0 over Benque United but Altitude, who also won, still lead the Premier League of Belize.

A goal by Paraguayan Luis Ibarra gave Verdes the 1-0 victory on Saturday at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen. The champs now total seven points from three games but still trail Altitude who also won on Saturday and now have nine points.

The Verdes game was initially scheduled for Sunday but was moved to Saturday to give them more preparation time for the Scotiabank Concacaf League match against Salvadoran champs Alianza on Wednesday evening at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.

Verdes recently eliminated Platense, another Salvadoran club, advancing to the Round of 16.

Benque United have three points from one win and two losses.
