Leo Matura, son of Audrey Matura, places 4th in 74 kg Men’s Open Category at the North American Powerlifting Championships

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Leo Matura placed 4th in the 74 kg Men’s Open Category at the North American Powerlifting Championships in Panama City, Panama on Tuesday.

“Leo Matura was steady as a rock today & was successful in each of his first 8 attempts!” said Tom Sharp on Matura’s performance at the regional championships.

“He moved from 8th place to 4th & on his 9th attempt, if successful, would have given him bronze. He wasn’t successful on his final lift but still went 8 out of 9 – which is practically unheard of! We are so proud of Leo who made mad respect for Belize today!”

The Belize Powerlifting Association team competing in Panama is doing extraordinarily well in the regional competition.

“Thanks to @kenetic Gym and his trainer Tom Tsai for preparing him for this competition,” said his proud mother Audrey Matura.
