By Breaking Belize News Staff: A family dispute between a man, his daughter, and his wife over the weekend ended in a criminal conviction for the man this week.
Fifty-eight-year-old Andrew Usher, appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where he wasted no time in pleading guilty to a single charge of wounding his 38-year-old wife. He was fined $500 plus $5.00 cost of the court of which he was given until October 14, 2022, to pay; in default, 3 months imprisonment.
Usher’s daughter and wife got into an altercation on Sunday, August 14 after his wife confronted his daughter, who is not her biological child, regarding allegations about her spreading rumors.
Usher intervened and threatened to leave his wife, who then began putting his personal items into his boat, which was parked in front of their house. The wife admitted to throwing a pint bottle at Usher but missed and said that while she was walking off she felt something hit her in the back of the head, followed by a warm sensation running down her back.
Realizing that she had been hit with the same pint bottle, thrown by her husband; and noticing that she was bleeding, she called the police.
