By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Teams of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) have been out since 1 am today monitoring the flooding and assessing the situation.
Photos and videos of flooding in Belize City and Orange Walk are being shared on social media.
Motorists on the Lemonal Road near the Isabella Road Junction are advised that a section of road has given way, MIDH informed.
The Belize City bus terminal is also flooded.
The National Meteorological Service of Belize says that a flood warning is in effect for flood-prone and low-lying areas, especially in central and northern areas of the country.
A strong thunderstorm warning is also in effect.
