Robert Williams wins gold in Men’s Masters 120 kg Category at North American Powerlifting Championships

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Robert Williams won gold in Men’s Masters 1 Open 120 kg Category at North American Powerlifting Championships in Panama City in Panama on Thursday.

“Our Black Wolverine closed us out strong! Rob and Will gave their all. We’re so proud of our accomplishments as a team and we know that powerlifting has a great future in Belize!” said Alida Wright Sharp on social media.

Williams is Belize’s second gold at the regional meet after Alida Wright Sharp also gained gold in the Women’s Masters II 52 kg Category setting three new records and tying a fourth one.

Edith Ruiz also won bronze in the Women’s Open 57 Kg Category on Monday. Jacqueline Alas earned a bronze in Women’s Open 63 kg Category on Tuesday. Khalid Usher secured a third bronze on Wednesday in the Men’s Open 93 kg Category and on Thursday, William Murillo captured a fourth bronze in the Men’s Juniors 105 kg Category.

In total, Belize won two gold medals and four bronze at the regional powerlifting championships.
