William Murillo captures bronze in Men’s Juniors 105 kg Category at North American Powerlifting Championships

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: William Murillo is bringing home the bronze medal from the Men’s Juniors 105 kg Category at North American Powerlifting Championships being held in Panama City, Panama.

With Murillo’s, Belize now has two gold and four bronze medals at the regional powerlifting championships.

“What can I say, the experience of a lifetime! Blessed to be here. Bringing a medal back home! I set a PR in both bench and deadlift on an international stage!” said Murillo in a social media post.

“Thank you all for the support,” Murillo said in another post.

“I appreciate each and every one of you. Quick fun fact before I come off and soak in the feeling for a bit. I was nominated last in my weight class and was projected to not medal! I still haven’t completed a year of powerlifting yet! Just a year and couple of weeks in the gym! not on ANY supplements, was the youngest and least experienced lifter in my class. By the time my third deadlift came, I was in a position to pull for 2nd. I have never come close to
deadlifting 600 lbs and today at PANAMA I deadlifted 595 LBS which put me in second for silver. However, the lift was overturned and I got a bronze. Nonetheless, I could not be more happy and grateful! I wasn’t even supposed to
be here this quick. TEAM BELIZE BRINGING HOME SOME HARDWARE!!!!”

Squat:

1st Attempt: 245 kg (540.22 lbs) x

2nd Attempt: 245 kg (540.22 lbs) +

3rd Attempt: 252.5 kg (556.76 lbs)+

Bench:

1st Attempt: 117.5 kg (259.08 lbs) +

2nd Attempt: 125 kg (275.62 lbs) +

3rd Attempt: 130 kg (286.65 lbs) +

Deadlift:

1st Attempt: 240 kg (530.30 lbs) +

2nd Attempt: 255 kg (562.28 lbs) +

3rd Attempt: 270 kg (595. 35 lbs) +-
