By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize Audubon Society has warned travelers that water levels at the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary (CBWS) are above normal levels making activities there unsafe at this time.
The Audubon Society noted that due to the elevated water levels, river tubing will not be allowed.
While hiking is still permitted, the Audubon Society also warned that trails in the area are muddy and that hikers must exercise extreme caution.
The situation follows heavy rains from a passing tropical wave that caused flooding in various parts of the country on Thursday.
