Mayor Sheran Palacio and Belmopan City Council mourn loss of enterprising youth Leroy Cus

By Aaron Humes: The Belmopan City Council led by Mayor Sharon Palacio has issued its condolences to the family of 18-year-old Leroy Cus, a graphic designer, found stabbed to death on Thursday night.

In a statement, the Council said it was “extremely saddened” by this sudden, random violence in the “usually peaceful capital,” adding that “…this act is condemned by all the residents of our Garden City and people around the world.”

To his family, it said “our hearts are [with you]; You shall not grieve alone. We pray God gives us strength and courage as we unite to keep our city safe.”

The Council promises to work with its partners, including the city’s formation of police, “to seek justice for this cruel act of violence,” and advises residents to be vigilant against crime.

Police have announced the recovery of the knife allegedly used in the incident as it closes in on the perpetrators.
