Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations receives a donation of 4,500 gallons of paint from Global Paint for Charity

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations received a donation of 4,500 gallons of paint from Global Paint for Charity on Thursday.

Tourism and Diaspora Relations Minister Anthony Mahler was on hand to receive the paint from Ronny Delgarde, CEO of Global Paint for Charity Inc.

“The donation was secured by the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, along with Mrs. Sandhya Murphy, Ambassador for Diaspora Relations, in collaboration with Ignite Belize,” said the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) in a press release posted on social media.

“The US-based organization is a part sponsor and collects and recycles leftover paint from local residences, buildings, and businesses. The paint is then donated to community-based projects around the world.”

An active member of the Belizean Diaspora, Erica Antoinette Castillo Slaton of Ignite Belize, was present for the handing over. The Ministry of Tourism said Slaton created a project entitled, “Painting A Brighter Future for Our Children” which pledges to paint schools, government buildings, and homes.

“The goal of the project is to uplift communities and stimulate innovation through color,” said the BTB.

BTB said the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations will now distribute the paint to various locations around the country.

The BTB said Mayor of Dangriga Robert Mariano, CEO of the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations Nicole Solano, and Director of Tourism Evan Tillet were among the invited guests at the paint handing over ceremony.
