Posted: Friday, August 19, 2022. 1:46 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police have found the weapon believed to be used in the stabbing death of 18-year-old Leroy Cus.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams gave an update on the investigation, saying that police have recovered the knife used to stab the young graphic designer to death on Wednesday night.

Additionally, one person has been detained for questioning; however, no one has been officially charged for the incident.

Cus, an employee of James Brodies Limited, was walking home on Wednesday night and is believed to have been the victim of a robbery when he was fatally stabbed.

His death has sparked public outrage and widespread condemnation, as well as highlighted major safety issues in the Belmopan area.

Following his death, the National Student Union of Belize called for greater security on and around the University of Belize Campuses; and the UB Student Government Association announced a number of safety assemblies planned for the next two weeks.
