BREAKING: Enterprising Belizean businessman drowns while on a family trip to Gales Point

By Breaking Belize News Staff: An enterprising businessman from the Belize District drowned late this evening while on a family trip to Gales Point.

Breaking Belize News (BBN) has confirmed that the victim is Ben Betancourt, a businessman residing in Ladyville.

Betancourt was on a family trip to Gales Point when the incident occurred. A number of the large family gathering witnessed the drowning and are currently in shock.

Ben Betancourt was a well known figure in Ladyville and tourism circles. He was the owner of Triple J Construction and was also a tour guide. Condolences have already began to pour in for the popular businessman.

“Ben Betancourt this is a shock to us… Very positive guy” wrote a family friend on social media.

“You lived a full life, you made sure every single second was worth something…Our hearts are hurting and we’re feeling broken. The only consolation is that you were doing what you loved most having a good time with our family. You will always be missed my sweet uncle. RIP Uncle Ben,” wrote his niece.

BBN joins family and friends in mourning the loss of this enterprising Belizean.
