Three-car pileup on Philip Goldson Highway in Ladyville

By Aaron Humes: Three vehicles ran into each other on Friday afternoon between miles 6 and 7 on the Philip Goldson Highway.

And while the drivers will engage their insurance companies to pay for the respective damages to their vehicles, all three will face notice of intended prosecution by authorities.

Ladyville police responded around 3:45 and found a dark grey four-door Ford F-150 pickup with Orange Walk license plates in the middle of the highway facing Belize City with damages to its front. Five feet in front of it was a Kia truck with Belize City plates also facing east with its rear tailgate dented and brakes and indicator lights damaged, attached to a third vehicle, to the rear tailgate of a blue Nissan Frontier pick-up truck with its rear left brakes light broken, dent tailgate and rear right bumper side dented.

The driver of the Ford, one Vladimir Patt of Chunox, Corozal, reportedly suffered mechanical issues with his brakes and collided with the Kia ahead of him, driven by Ivan Cuellar of San Narciso who was traveling in the same direction. This caused the Kia to be pushed into the Frontier ahead of it and driven by Emmanuel Lanza, a maintenance supervisor of Maskall, Belize District. The road was dry and paved, and traffic was described as “hectic.” No one was injured.

All three drivers are licensed and all three vehicles are insured. Police investigations continue.
