Companies registry issues reminders to businesses to have their annual filings up to date

By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize Companies and Corporate Affairs Registry (BCCAR) has issued a reminder to companies to ensure that their annual filings are up to date.

The BCCAR said that companies incorporated under Chapter 250 of the Companies Act need to have their annual filings up to date by November 4th, 2022 in order to remain active and have a smooth transition under Belize Companies Act, 2022 (Act 11 of 2022).

“This transition is anticipated for the end of November 2022 when the migration of all company records will be executed to launch the Online Business Registry System (OBRS). Companies will be required to re-register via OBRS and will be given a new 9-digit company number and E-certificate,” the BCCAR said.

The registry also informed company shareholders and directors that further information on the re-registration process and launch date for OBRS will be published beforehand.
