COVID-19 update: Belize passes 68 thousand COVID-19 cases; no hospitalizations

By Aaron Humes: For the first time in months, no one in Belize is currently hospitalized in relation to COVID-19.

Data from the Ministry of Health and Wellness show 71 new cases reported countrywide over the weekend, with a total of 228 active cases at present. No new deaths were reported.

The Belize District added 38 new cases, including 26 in Belize City and two in San Pedro Town, while the Cayo District added 13.

But the North and South together reported just seven and 13 cases total, signifying a slowing down of the pandemic in these areas.

Belizeans are still nonetheless reminded to protect themselves, both with vaccines and handwashing, mask-wearing and social distancing where appropriate.
