Verdes, San Pedro Pirates, Progresso, Wagiya; all win in Premier League of Belize

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes took over the Premier League of Belize lead from Altitude with their 1-0 victory over the Mango Creek-side at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium on Saturday.

Jessie August scored the only goal in the first half.

The San Pedro Pirates also edged the Belmopan Bandits 1-0 at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan on Saturday.

On Sunday, Progresso won their second PLB game as they blanked Benque United 2-0 at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk. Zamir Bonilla scored a brace in the 21’ and 90’+2.

For their part, Wagiya blasted Port Layola 3-0 at the MCC Grounds in Belize City. Alexander ‘Pleck’ Peters nailed the opener in the 4’. Warren Moss made it 2-0 in the 39’. Cion Augustine sealed the deal at 3-0 in the 78’. Wagiya could have won by more, but Donnel Arzu missed a penalty kick in the first half.
