No-one arrested yet for murder of taxi man Paul Panton; police appeal to the public for assistance

By Benjamin Flowers: Despite having several leads and a possible motive, police have not formally charged anyone for the June 24 murder of Belize City taxi man 59-year-old Paul Panton.

Police issued a notice today, asking anyone with information regarding the incident to report what they know by calling 911, 922, the nearest police station, or reporting it online at www.P3tips.com.

Panton received a call around 6:00 p.m. at the Cinderella Plaza Taxi Stand to pick up a passenger, on Heart Street, and was found with a gunshot wound to the back of the head not long after.

Following the murder Head of Communications for the Office of the Commissioner of Police ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, said police received information that he may have been killed over a business transaction gone wrong.

“We have received several tips so far and we are even following up some information that he may have been involved in some form of business with a family that is very upset right now. The information would want to suggest that this is as a result of some form of business that went bad between him and those other parties,” Yearwood said back in June.
